Chipping reduces the amount of debris created when removing trees.  It is the best way to return the biomass to the soil.  Around Big Sky, the soil is not rich in nutrients.  What little there is, largely comes from deteriorating down trees.  If we remove your tree(s) and blow the chips onto your property the soil is not robbed of these nutrients.  Chipping decreases the time it takes for these nutrients to go back into the soil.  Small particles with large surface areas, breakdown much quicker than a whole tree.  If you do not want the chips on your property, we now have the capabilities to haul them away to places where they can still have a positive benefit.

As of 2021 we will only chip our own piles.  Chippers do not do well with dirt, rocks, or rotten wood.  These are often found when a home owner makes their own piles.  Too many people have been angry that we wouldn't abuse our chipper to get rid of their debris.
