Raised in New England, Mark graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Studies from Keene State College in New Hampshire. He moved to Colorado after college and spent several years between Telluride and Vail. He started his career in arbor culture working for the Forest Service as a sawyer in Mintern, CO in 1992. After 4 years with the Forest Service he moved to Denver to work for Swingle Tree Service where he learned urban tree care, pruning and to climb. He worked for Swingle until 2000 when he moved back to the East Coast and took a position with Broad Oak Tree and Shrub Care in Peterborough, NH. Broad Oak was a climbing crew focused tree company where Mark gained experience with rigging big wood, pruning mixed hardwoods and orchard trees as well as advanced his climbing skills. While in New Hampshire he participated and placed well in several climbing competitions. He spent a few years in Vermont doing freelance tree work. In 2004 he and his wife moved from Stowe, VT to Montana having heard about this new ski resort called Moonlight Basin. He proceeded to tune skis at Moonlight for 12 years and fell in love with the mountain. Working for tree companies in Bozeman and Big Sky for the first few years, in 2009 he started Lone Peak Tree Care and has worked independently, partnering with other area tree companies up to the present day. In 2019 he met Bart Mitchell of CS Enterprises. With Bart’s great reputation and already established client base, Mark’s specialized skill set took CS Enterprises to a new level with the services they are able to offer. He has been a certified ISA Arborist since 2003. He is a diehard downhill skier who continues to tune and repair skis a couple days a week in the winter for fun.
